We went to the Detroit Parade Company for a girl scouts event. We helped work on part of the float for the Girl Scouts, made a mini float to take home, got our faces painted, dressed up in cotumes, learned a dance routine and had lunch. It was really fun. I think I was more excited than the girls. I had a great group of 9 girls with me, they were so fun to talk to and to listen to. This is Caitlin with her new friend Sydney dressed as rockin strawberries.

Well unfortunately I think I will be lucky if I post on here once a month at this point!

So much has been going on! Summer is over and Caitlin started at Middle School. We had some minor issues with opening her locker, it is a testy one that doesn' t like it if you pass the numbers. She is figuring it out though and is usually on time to her classes. She has 2 main teachers: Mrs. Camp who teaches Math and Science and Mr. Scott who teaches Social Studies and English. She really likes Mr. Scott and says he is fun and only 27 years old! Yikes! She also has PE (you cannot call it Gym because she says the teacher hates that) and Tech which is a CAD design art class. They are designing and building bridges out of wood and then they get to put them on some machine to do stress tests. She is very excited about that class. She said the only bad thing is that the HUGE 8th graders bowl them over everyday on the way to 6th hour. We didn't have any advice other than to move over and she said that wasn't helpful.

Next week is the Show Choir audition. She really wants to be in it and it sounds really fun and right up her alley. She is singing "Seize the Day" from the show Newsies for her audition. It is a solo from one of her other shows she did. The show choir is a performance choir that puts on 8 shows a year thoughout the year. They have only 24 members, so we are waiting to see if she gets it.

We both have parts in the Starlight Theater production of Fiddler on the Roof. Which of course is one of my all time favorite musicals. I am Fruma Sarah (the ghost of the dearly departed wife of Lazar Wolfe who comes from beyond the grave in a dream to scare Tevye into not letting his daughter marry my husband). It involves singing really loud and screaming and running around stage and is such a fun part, one that I have wanted to play for a long time. Caitlin is in the ensemble and gets to sing lots of songs! The shows are Friday and Sat nights at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2pm, the weekends of Oct. 19-21 and Oct. 26-28.

Caitlin also auditioned for Seussical the Musical Jr. and got the part of the Sour Kangaroo which seems like a pretty darn good part. As far as I can tell she has a couple of pretty big singing parts that are real bluesy sounding, it should be a blast for her!!! The shows are the weekend of Nov. 1-4.

Girl scouts is kicking off this weekend with a trip to tour the Parade Company in the middle of Detroit. I lost both girls who had parents that "would never let their kids go to Detroit" and were amazed and aghast that I brought Caitlin down there to do stuff (I wasn't all that sad about them choosing not to continue with me this year). The trip should be loads of fun, we have 9 girls going. They get to work on part of the very first Girl Scouts of Southeastern float that will make its debut this year; make a mask or have their faces painted; do a craft; eat lunch and tour the giant paper mache heads and floats. The other Mom chaperone and I are more excited than the girls I think!!!
We start meetings next week and I think I am going to have 15 girls, which is apparently unheard of in 6th grade Cadettes, since they start to think it is not cool. If I can get some good cookie sellers, maybe we could go to Chicago or something at the end of the year. My goal is to show them how cool scouts can be and how much great stuff we can do and what great girls they can be.

Also, Caitlin, Judy, Beth and I are going to Girl Scout night at the Fisher to see Mary Poppins after a backstage tour and meet and great with the cast! Could I be a more awesome Mom or leader?? I forwarded the info to the other parents, but didn't make it a troop event. I am doing selfish Caitlin time.....the best time ever!

Busy, busy, busy, as always here in the Thompson house! Hope all is well with all of you!

It is harder to keep up with this thing than I thought it would be!

Only 2 more weeks of summer vacation for Caitlin. She is all done with summer camp as of today and will be trying to entertain herself for the next two weeks. I took a couple of days off to hang with hr and I think Jeff will too.

Next Wednesday is 6th grade Orientation ALREADY! Ahhhh! We have not done any shopping yet because I am wiating for the list so that I do not buy things we do not need. For clothing, she will need a new jacket and jeans, but should be ok other than that. I have found that the best sales are after "back to school" anyway. For 6th grade orientation they said bring a checkbook?? We have to pay an intramural fee for afterschool activities (she wants to do show choir and art club), order the yearbook, pay for pictures, and whatever other things they have! Whew.
She is so excited to finally find out which team she is in and what her other classes will be. They have 3 different teaching teams of 3 teachers who they stay with all year. The 3 teachers teach Math, Social studies and English. Then they have Science, gym and the elective they pick (Cait picked Tech Art).

I have been busy trying to sort out the Girl Scout troop and have 8 committed so far. Plus, 4 maybes. That will be a great number to deal with, I am hoping we will be able to do a lot of great things on a small budget. I found out that the council wants $500 for camping in their lodges, which is crazy when I only have about 10 girls! So I am looking at other options. I have our first outing planned which Caitlin is really excited about....we are going to the Detroit Parade Company in Detroit to take a tour, do some fun activities and eat lunch. They are having the first ever Girl Scouts of Eastern Michigan float this year and the girls get to make a flower to go on the float. We might even have to go down to see it this year.

We have the possibility of a very dramatic fall coming up! Caitlin is trying out for Suessical the Musical at the Starlight Theater, which is the weekend of Nov 4th. She also wants to try out for Cheaper by the Dozen with the Huron Valley PADrama club, which would be the weekend of December 8th I think. Then she wants to audtion for The Little Mermaid through the same company for the Spring AND Charlotte's Web with the Huron Valley Children's Theatre which is also in the Spring. I said we will have to pick one of those I think. We are slowly getting away from the Starlight I think. The PADrama club also has theater workshops and she wants to do "how to pass an audition", so I am signing her up for that. Oh, and I am considering auditioning for Fiddle on the Roof which would be the weekend before Halloween.

It has been a busy summer so far!
Caitlin has been to Theater Camp, Detroit Zoo camp (in the 100 degree heat!), Outdoor Adventure camp, Girl Scout camp and Maine for a week! Whew! And more is to come!

We had a blast at the Huron Valley Girl Scout encampment. Caitlin got to see what real camping is about. The person who organiozes it told her thath if she can get at least 4 girls from our troop for next year, then they can help run it! she is so excited about that. It is going to be Native American themed with a real Powwow! Sounds fun.

I had my surgery on July 5th and recuperated for the past 3 weeks. Sad to go back to work....my thumb still hurts sometimes, but it seems to be healing well.

During my three weeks, we went to Maine to relax and had such fun there. We went to the Beach, Acadia National Park, took a Puffin tour, went to another beach, checked out the tidal pools, ran from the green head flies! Learned how to get mussels for dinner from some guy on the beach, ate Lobster that Robin awesomely cooked!!! We also stopped and hung out at the Howe Caverns in NewYork on the way home and took the Cave tour, rode the aipline and did the high ropes course. It was so fun, but Caitlin was glad to get home after a week to torment Neiko!

Sunday, June 24, 2012

Wow! The end of June already! This year is just zipping by. I  feel like I should start Christmas shopping....oh yeah, I have!!
Here is an update from the past week or so.....

Caitlin is getting ready for a week of Theater camp this week. Unfortunately due to schedule conflicts at work, I will be unable to see her performance on Friday, it will be the first one I have missed! But, fortunately Grandma Judy is able to go so she will have someone there for her. She should have a fun time. Then the week after is zoo camp and that will of course be a blast for her.

Yesterday we explored a zoo that we had never gone to before. It is called the Wilderness Trails Zoo and is in Birch Run. It is a small zoo with old fashion fenced cages, which I was concerned baout because sometimes those really depress me if the animals look miserable, but it really was neat. I only had one concern about a zebra whose hoof was broken looking, but Caitlin decided that was probably what brought him here so it was alright. We had a great time and plan to go back again. We got to feed swans, fish, turtles, baby cows, goats, the otter, and many more beasts. The animals are really close which is neat and we explored some Silver Award (Girl Scout) ideas for her while there too, that is the highest award a Cadette can get and involves doig something to help society, the planet or animals and should be permanent. It mamd me sad when Caitlin said that I was an awesome Mom and told me that most of her friends don't like to hang out with their Mom's. It makes me wonder if it is the Mom or the child, because Ciatlin seems to love to hang out with me and we always find fun and interesting things to do.

Cait and I have been working on finding exciting new things for the Girl Scouts to do next year now that I am the leader! I have found many things they can think about doing. The Howell Nature Center has overnights that can be incorporated into badges and they have ropes courses and a zipline which will go well with the "Journey" challenge we will be doing next year which focuses on bullying, being yourself, and encouraging others. I have also discovered several other fun places to go that I will throw out there. I want to have a "girl-led" troop this year which means that they get to make most of the decisions and I will just guide them. They will have to take costs, time, location and activities into consideration when voting what to do. Hopefully they will like this more than the old way of having the leader or her daughter deciding most of it. We also have a sister troop that is run by mine and Beth's high school friend Chris Davis. She is running the troop at Muir Middle School this year and we are hoping to do some camping and stuff together.

Jeff has finished up with the testing that he was stressed out about for work and is much more relaxed now, in fact he is at Gary's playing with motorcycles right now. He is going to a motorcycle track day next weekend for his birthday, which gives me pause, but I know he is a safe rider and want to encourage him to do things he loves. It is over by Grand Rapids and he is trying to get Cait and I to go, but we would have to take the dog and camp and then if Cait and I wanted to do anything during the day, it would have to be something Neiko can do too. We will just hang out here instead.

I have two tests left for my last class. I am so frustrated with this class, I just want it done. I managed to drag it out as much as possible, but now have to finish it by July 1st. The professor seems to like himself alot and his 3 page introducation basically said that he has never had a student that met his expectations and that he doesn't give good grades just because we did the work. He gave me one 100 and the rest have all been around 90. I got 87 on the last test and it now has my average at 90. I am so angry considering I was carrying a 3.9 before this class!!!! Argh! But it is the last one for my degree, so I will finish and be glad to be done.

Caitlin is officially a Middle Schooler now!
5th grade graduation was a long drawn out experience. The teachers said something special about EVERY kid (sometimes telling stories to go with it), which took a long time.
When it was Caitlin's turn, Mr Schwaninger said that she was definitely her own person. He said that there is the world's way of doing things, and then there is Caitlin's way of doing things. He said she is not afraid to be herself or be different and he admired that. Then he said "from one weirdo to another, never stop being yourself". Some of the Mom's were upset about this and talked to me afterward. But I wasn't upset and neither was Caitlin, infact, she thought it was pretty awesome that he said that and I thought that he really understood her. They were obviously comfortable enough with each other for him to say that and I appreciate him knowing her that well and being able to convey the message to her in a way she understood, even if the other Mom's didn't. She is very excited about 6th grade, but even more excited for summer at this point.

For the first weekend of summer I told her she could invite a friend and we would do something special since we are not going to have a summer "vacation" this year. She picked her friend Olivia who was on the swim team with her a few years back and then we lost touch with. Well, with the redistricting of schools, she ended up coming to our school this year and will be in Cait's middle school, so they have become good friends! We went to Splash Universe in Dundee, and went to the Toledo Zoo on Sunday. They had a blast! They are so good together, they didn't have any pouty times, or I don't want to be with you times. They even went to sleep between 10 and 10:30 both nights! It was an awesome time, we hope to take Olivia somewhere else with us this summer too, maybe up north to go tubing

We both signed up for the reading club at the libarary and Caitlin is really into it! She even signed up for some of the programs there. They have a glow party, which she opted to do instead of a camp out with her old girl scout leader. She also signed up for a game night and a book club type afternoon where they discuss a book and have pizza. She is excited that she is in the Teen group now and gets the good prizes and activities instead of the "lame" crafts. She already has 7 1/2 hours on her log since June 1st.  She earned 5 raffle tickets so far and put 4 in for the Nook Color and 1 in for the Campout Goodies. I have 2 books on mine (ours is different, for every 5 books you read, you put your name in a drawing for prizes).

Caitlin and I are signing up for a Girl Scout encampment in July, which is a weekend camporee! The girls are doing Astronomy stuff Friday night (and have the opportunity to design their own badge) and earning two different wildlife badges on Saturday (Cait's are the Trailblazers and Animal Helper badges). The leaders are attending enrichment classes while there. Oh, for those of you who don't know...I am officially the leader for the White Lake Middle School 6th grade Cadette's. Panic time!!!! Caitlin's old leader decided not to continue and said her daughter wasn't going to do scouts in 6th grade because it is not cool! Of course, now that I picked it up, she says her daughter wants to do it. Caitlin is not very excited about that since her daughter is one of the bullies. Unfortunately I can't refuse any girls! Right now I have 4 for sure, 7 possibles, PLUS they said there may be 11 from the other two schools coming in! So I could have anywhere from 4 to 22+! 4 sounds good to me! heehee

Caitlin may decide not to do Little Mermaid at the theater, she is not sure if she wants to give up Saturdays for the next two months. They changed the time to 2-5 instead of 3-6 because some parents were complaining. 2-5 is worse! I suggested 9-12 or 6-9! Not something else in the middle of the day!  Plus, we are a little strapped for cash after the new mattress and new well tank, so it will not bother me if she decided to skip it, that is $155 we can use elsewhere.

Summer is starting and Caitlin is at her first day of camp. Hope you all have a day as great as hers will be!

We have had a busy couple of weeks!

Caitlin is a week and a half away from being a Middle Schooler! Can you believe it? It seems like yesterday we were in our first day of Kindergarten! I remember I had on a pair of light khaki pants and the activity of the morning was to put the kids footprints on paper with paint. Well, needless to say, I ended up with a blue footprint on my rear end compliments of Adam G. (unintentionally of course).

Now we are getting ready for 5th grade graduation. Jeff says it is ridiculous to have a celebration for something they are SUPPOSE to do. He is trying to get out of going. But Caitlin really wants us both there and since he hasn't done much at school, I made him take the day off. We start with a luncheon at 11:45am, followed by a slide show and then little party with the clap out at 3pm. Should be fun for the kids. I will probably be bawling like a baby with half of the other Moms.

Caitlin is auditioning for The Little Mermaid this Friday at the Starlight Theater. She is excited to be in another one of her favorites. She always liked the non-"princess" ones best....Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Mulan and Pochahontis were the best as far as she was concerned. She did awesome in Mulan as Ancestor Hong, she had lots of lines and several solo lines in songs. I think she did great and hopefully the director did too. She is hoping for one of the main parts in Little Mermaid. That show is at the end of July I think.

We are planning on doing basketball camp this summer and maybe Volleyball camp, but we will have to see. I am finding it nice to have my evenings free for this past week, so we may just commit to one evening thing during the summer. Of course she will also be at Proud Lake camp all summer during the day, and the zoo for a week, and theater camp for two weeks.

5 favorite things this week:
1 - Going to 5th grade camp with Caitlin. 5th grade camp was awesome (says Cait)! She went on a zipline, hiked through a bog and the wetlands, played lots of games, sang lots of songs, went to a bonfire, learn orieteering, canoed, fed the bunnies and goats dandelions at the petting farm, and had a blast! I stayed the entire time as a chaperone and got to experience it all too.
2 - Watching Caitlin play volleyball after 5th grade camp! Caitlin had two games the night we came home from 5th garde camp. She and Sydney were pretty much asleep while playing! The Green Machine won both games though! Yeah!
3 - Laughing at Neiko's cone. I know it shouldn't be funny, but we had Neiko neutered yesterday and they put this HUGE cone on his head and he cannot go through doorways or anything without getting stuck. It really is funny, but we of course feel bad at the same time......
4 - Mother's Day presents and outing. Caitlin made me a funny one eyed monster doll with a dress and glittery braclet and a beautiful card, then we went to the movies. A nice relaxing Mother's Day!
5 - Mornings with Mom's - Cait's school had muffins, juice, water, coffee, coffee cake and donuts and the Moms were invited to come up and have breakfast with their kids in the morning on Tuesday. It was so nice. Caitlin actually sat with me the whole time and then we went to the bookstore. She even held my hand walking down the hall....I love that!

Friday, May 4, 2012

Caitlin has three more Fridays of Volleyball games, we are in Howell tonight, Brighton next week and South Lyon the week after that. They have lost 2 and won 4. Whoohoo! Go Green Machine!

Caitlin has three more Saturdays of practice for Mulan, then the show the weekend of Memorial Day. She is excited and sings the songs constantly. I am glad the director is going back to the "older kids" shows, it is getting her excited about it again. He almost lost her with Winnie the Pooh and Cinderella. We will have to see what the summer show is to see if she plans on doing it or not. The Huron Valley Children's Theatre is doing Charlotte's Web in the fall and she wants to try out for that.

Summer is quickly approaching! She is registered for one week of Zoo Camp (it went up in price this year, so we are unsure if we can do two, with two weeks of Theater Camp also). She will be staying with Grandma Jusy for the week of 4th of July for thsi camp. She is also registered for 2 weeks of Theater Camp, one at the end of June and one in the middle of August. Then the rest of the summer she will be returning to Proud Lake Outdoor Adventure Camp where she has been going since Kindergarten. Sports will be done though which will be a nice break for me!
Caitlin and her friend Victoria particiapated in the Science Olympiad last night at the high school. They did the egg drop, which involved creating protection around an egg with straws and tape and dropping it on a target. They didn't do too bad, but didn't place in the top three. At least they tried though! Out of 14 teams, 11 eggs broke including Caitlin's. It was fun to watch!!
I am waaaay behind!
First let me tell you about the Planetarium. Caitlin had a blast! We spent the night at the Planetarium in Flint. We slept under the black lights which lit up a space scene on the walls, it was really cool to look at, but for someone who cannot sleep with the lights on, it was annoying after about 15 minutes. I did not get much sleep that night! But I did (being the camper that I am) sleep on the floor in my sleeping bag as opposed to some of the other Mom's who thought it was necessary to bring queen sized aerobeds that took up huge amounts of room! Geez!
The girls got to do some really neat activities, like design a video game and make a rollercoaster for a marble out of foam. Then they saw a light show (which made me feel sick), had a snack and went to bed. It was a cool trip, we haven't done much in the way of scout stuff this year, so it was fun to do, and only 1 girl missed it!  Oh, did I mention that I got off at the wrong exit and ended up driving around a not so inviting part of Flint.......I asked Jeff for TomTom for my birthday!

5 favorite things this week:

1 - Watching Caitlin get paddled during the performance of Tarradiddle Tales. Caitlin gets 6 smacks with the paddle in payment for being a rotten guard in Peter the Fool. She thought that was the best part! She got to run around yelling "Ouch" and pretend she was being paddled! The audience loved it.

2 - Caitlin got to pick camp bunkmates. They got to put in the names of three girls that they want to bunk with at 5th grade camp. Then they had to circle the one they want the most. The teacher said that he guarantees one of them in the cabin and will try to put the rest of them as trailmates. Caitlin picked Olivia who use to be on the swim team with her and just transferred to her school this year. Olivia is also involved in the Children's Theatre and they seem to have loads in common!

3 - Going to the movies. I actually took time for me and went to the movies by myself yesterday. Jeff said it is nice that I could hang out with all of my friends! It really was kind of nice to see what I wanted, sit where I wanted and just relax for a couple of hours. I saw The Lucky One which was fantastic.

4 - Graduating from my FBINAA training for Leadership Development. They took use to Picano's in Troy where we were treated with a five course Italian meal. It was fantastic, especially the Cannoli!! Then we went up to get our certificates and shake hands with the higher ups. It really was a nice event to finish off fantastic training. My Captain even came which was really cool.

5 - Going to Tim Horton's in the morning with Caitlin. Before the show on Thursday, Caitlin and I went to Tim Horton's for breakfast. She always does alot of talking when we do this and I get to learn alot about what is going on at school, with her friends and other kids, and some of the Mom's too!
After a week of either Caitlin or I being sick, we are finally getting back to normal. Caitlin brought home a horrible stomach flu last Thursday that I ended up getting by the middle of the night on Saturday. I was off work until Wednesday! Yuck.

We have had another busy week.
Caitlin did her last performance of the Tarradiddle Tales at Johnson Elementary School in Milford yesterday. It was fun to see how the performers interacted with an audience of kids as opposed to an audience of adults. What a fun show! Caitlin has enjoyed performing with the Huron Valley Children's Theatre and hopes to audition for their performance of Charlotte's Web this Fall. She is missing the pool party wrap up party tonight as well as a Volleyball game so that she can go to a Girl Scout Overnight at the Sloan Planitarium in Flint. It should be loads of fun.

Thursday, April 19, 2012

Today Caitlin got to go over to the Middle school and take a tour. They learned about the three electives they have to choose from: Choir (which I figured was a shoe in), Band, or Tech Art. Guess what she picked.....Tech Art! It is half a year of Tech, which seems to be like Graphic Design, and half a year of what we know as Art. She wants to try out for the show choir which is an after school thing, and join the Art Club after school. She is very excited. She said it is a whole new world and she can't wait!

I am so excited for her, but sad at the same time. She is my baby!!!

As for me, I registered for my final class needed to finish up my Bachelor's Degree finally!!!! I start on Tuesday and am glad to be on this final journey! Then I might try for my Master's. Maybe.....

Monday, April 16, 2012

In case you all couldn't tell...Cait got a hold of the blog!
She wanted me to write a post explaining the new blog design. I am not sure if everyone knows this or not, but ever since Caitlin was very small, she has called dandelions that are puffy "wishberries". Because of this, she thought that it would be appropriate to have "wishberries" on a blog about her!  Oh, and she thought it should be more exciting!!

Saturday, April 14, 2012

Waiting for the White Lake Easter Egg hunt to begin! Caitlin had a fun time. She did make the mistake of bending over to get an egg too close to the starting point and the sea of kids behind her pushed her over and kept going. She still prevailed though and got a bag full of goodies!
My 5 favorite things this week:

1 - Watching Caitlin playing Volleyball. She looked like she was really having fun! The girls are all really friendly and they really get into it. She is even "going to the ball" and not waiting for it just to come to her. I asked her if she liked this better or Basketball and she said she doesn't know, she likes them both!
2 - Picking Caitlin up after rehearsal the other day. She saw the truck and yelled "Hi Mom!" and ran from her friends to the truck waving like crazy. It was cute and made me feel really nice and grateful for all that we have in our lives.
3 - Audit of equipment at work. It actually came out perfect and I have ALL of the tether equipment accounted for. Whew!
4 - Neiko jumping on the bed for the first time. Cait was home with an immunization reaction on Monday and we were on the bed watching a movie. Neiko came running down the hallway at top speed and jumped up on the bed like superdog! It was hilarious! After we laughed and told him how silly he is, we had to yell at him and tell him to get off the bed.
5 - Caitlin holding my hand. We were walking through the woods on a hike and she reached over and held my hand for awhile. I love that and sadly do not think it will last much longer. Pretty soon I think I will hear "gross Mom".

Friday, April 13, 2012

Caitlin did Awesome at Volleyball tonight! They lost both games, but all of the girls were trying very hard. Cait got every serve over the net except for one! Her serves produce really slow looking balls that the other team doesn't think will make it over the net, so they all stand there while it falls at their feet. She said she had loads of fun too. If they can figure out the helping each other get the ball over a bit better, we will be kicking some butt!
Last night at the 5th grade camp meeting, I spoke with Cait's teacher and asked if I could email him with the two girls that I do not want her to be roomed with. They said that they were letting the kids turn in three names of people they would like to be with and they were guarenteed to be with only one of those individuals. So I was a little concerned that she would not be with the three girls she was saying she would be and might get stuck with one of the bullies. Well, after I asked him he looked at me funny and asked "are you having girl drama issues?" I said "yes, I am Caitlin's Mom". I am concerned that he didn't realize that! Anway I am going to request that she not be with the two girls from the bus. The bullying is not happening now, but I do not want to give anyone any reason to start up again.

She is so excited about camp, it is all she talks about and it is still a month away! It sounds like they keep the kids really busy from about 8 in the morning until lights out at 10pm. I think she will have a blast and will hopefully get a little ambition to go to a different "sleep away" camp that I found.

Thursday, April 12, 2012

Went to the 5th grade camp parent meeting tonight, it seems like I was just at Kindergarten round up! Sad to think that my baby is going into Middle School in less than 5 months. Time has gone too fast.

I am one of only three parents who are staying the ENTIRE time. I am following the bus up on Wednesday morning, and staying until the bus comes home on Friday afternoon. Caitlin asked that I use some of my vacation time for this, so I couldn't resist. Expecially since I am the "awesomest Mom ever". They asked if I was able to be a First Aider, but I had to pass since my cards are expired and we wont renew until the end of summer. Also, Jeff said I probably don't want the liability, especially with some of the crazy parents we have.

Some other stuff we are doing now:

Caitlin is playing the part of "The Guard" in the Huron Valley Community Theater's production of Peter the Fool. She gets to be paddled, which seems to be big fun for her! She is also playing the musical part for the Lion walking in the Tiger Trap. The performance is 4 or 5 fables. The kids get to do set building, props, music, dancing and other theater stuff. She thinks the Director, Mr. Marquise, is great. He is the music teacher at one of the grade schools and is really good with the kids, and really patient, I must add. For this play, the are doing a show at a nursing home at the end of April and get to take a day off school to travel to an elementary school in the area and perform. Big excitment!

She was also picked to play Ella Fitzgerald in the school production of We has Jazz. She gets to sing and introduce someone else. They have dances and songs they have to learn and it seems to be quite a production. That is sometime in May.

She is also playing the part of "Ancestor Hong" in the Starlight Theater's production of Mulan. She has lots of lines and a few solo lines in a couple of songs. Mulan has always been one of her favorite's so this should be alot of fun for her. That show is at the end of May.

She is saying that she also wants to try out for the part of Brigetta in the Sound of Music, but I think we will have to pass on that since it starts soon.

Volleyball started last week and we have our first game tomorrow night. She has no idea how to play volleyball, but is excited about it and wanted to try, so more power to her!

Busy busy busy, that is what we are here at the Thompson's. Hoping all is well with everyone!
I created this as a way for those of you without Facebook and all of that craziness to keep up with what is going on with the Thompson's!

I will update some photos and posts regularly so that Grandma and Papa can keep up with Cait!
